A Study On The Governance Countermeasures Of Small College Communities In Suburbs Of Guangzhou, In The Perspective Of Gated Community

The document issued in February, 2016 has made the term gated community a focus of public attention again. As supply of various resources in big cities becomes in tension, searching for outer resources or reasonable allocatio n of resources becomes important topic on development of urban space. The construction and development of small college communities in suburbs of Guangzhou is a result of tension in urban resources allocation. The physical space in suburb can meet the demand of land, which is one of the primary resources for higher education. But due to the geographical distance, which is also the main characteristics of the suburban community, there are problems as inconvenience in transportation, life and public facilities.Small college communities in suburbs of Guangzhou ha ve the unique characteristics.Firstly, college communities in suburbs of Guangzhou are consistent with the definition of gated communities. Gated community, with the external identifications of fences and walls, the original intention of which is to obtain the safe and convenient management of the residential area, has resulted in new problem s of psychological, spiritual, cultural and other aspects, with people’s rising pursuit of real right conscious ness, safety consciousness and leisure.Secondly, college communities in suburbs of Guangzhou as a carrier of the development of higher education, as the collection area of knowledge and technology, has a greater influence on radiation, the cultural and educational functions carried by which are more than other ordinary residential communities. In a sense, research on its existence form and development is more meaningful than the ordinary residential communities.Being a kind of gated communities, small college communities in suburbs of Guangzhou is in a more embarrassing situation. B ecause of the extremely physical space isolation, there comes the psychology and spirit isolation of the residents, so as the educational and cultural isolation.This paper is to study the small college communities in suburbs of Guangzhou in the view of gated community theory, to explore the governance countermeasures of it, and finally put forward three solutions. Include to improve the efficiency of resource in the suburbs, to promote the participation of multiple subjects in community governance, and to highlight the role of community governance in the guidance of the government.
