Since the reform of the housing system in China in the last century, the construction of urban settlements has been in the ascendant. After decades of practice and development, gated communities have gradually become one of the main forms of urban living. However, there is no controversy about how to identify and define gated communities from many residential communities in the city, and how the gated community will affect urban space.Based on this, this paper selects Changsha City, where the urban housing system is relatively mature,as a case, and identifies the gated communities in the city by establishing a spatial identification system for residential communities, and on the basis of identification, accessibility, functional diversity and service convenience from the road network.Three aspects explore the impact of gated communities on urban space, and finally aim at the problem and propose corresponding optimization strategies. The main conclusions of this paper are as follows:1.On the identification of gated community space, the identifiability of urban scale is discussed from the perspective of urban imagery, and the basic elements that constitute identifiability are analyzed, and the identifiability status and gated community of urban residential community level are summarized. The spatial characteristics are considered to be able toidentify and screen the residential communities in the city through the five aspects of path(road network texture),nodes(facility layout),space boundary(fence distribution)and area(scale scale)and location layout.Community-specific residential plots to achieve a comprehensive judgment of the identification of gated communities;2 Regarding the effects of gated communities, qualitatively discuss the impact of gated communities on urban space from the perspective of transportation links, business functions and spatial structures, and then based on gated communities The self-attribute construction index quantitatively analyzes the impact effects of gated communities on road network accessibility, functional diversity and service convenience.Through qualitative and quantitative analysis,it can be seen that the gated scale community with large scale, high wall density and distribution in the periphery of the city has significant influence effect(negative correlation)on the accessibility of the road, facility diversity and service convenience.Single large-scale,especially large-scale gated, and gated communities in the suburbs of the city can easily adversely affect the accessibility of urban roads, the convenience of public services and the diversity of facilities, which can easily cause the density of urban road networks to decline. The weakening of connectivity, the privatization of facilities and the reduction of accessibility of services have made gated communities increasingly the crux of urban sustainability. Finally,in view of the above analysis,it emphasizes the control, guidance and promotion of gated communities in terms of scale, function and space according to local conditions. In order to provide reference for further planning of gated communities in the future, and create an ideal residential space order.
