Research On The Governments’ Role In The Development Of Social Organizations In Yangjiang

Social organization is an independent social group that has some establishment forms, perform certain social functions, and accomplish specific social goals. With the development of China’s society and economy, and the transformation of government functions, social organizations play an important role in innovating social governance modes, improving public service and promoting economic development. As a result, social organizations have gradually become an important part of national governance, independent of governments and enterprises.In recent years, Yangjiang’s social organizations innovate boldly, explore actively, and grow rapidly. They are playing a great role in safeguarding industry interests, promoting employment, and developing public welfare undertakings. Consequently, they have gradually become an important force to promote local economic and social development. However, on the whole, at present, the development of social organizations in Yangjiang is still in the primary stage and has a series of problems, such as high barriers to registration, governments’ weak force in registration and management, social organizations’ lack of self-development capacity and so on. As a result, social organizations can not meet the objective requirement of economic and social development. Therefore, how to transform government functions, let governments guide, support and supervise the development of social organizations, build a new cooperative relationship between governments and social organizations, and promote social democracy has become an urgent issue. This dissertation is intended to analyze the current situation of social organizations in Yangjiang and current government behavior of promoting the development of social organizations through literature analysis, comparative study, field research and other methods, and then put forward countermeasures for the government of Yangjiang to further promote the development of social organizations.This dissertation’s research object is governments’ role in social organizations’ development. According to literature analysis, comparative study, field research and other methods, this dissertation makes clear governments’ responsibilities in social organizations’ development and analyzes the current situation of social organizations’ development, the current situation of governments’ role in the development of social organizations’, existing problems of governments’ role and causes of existing problems. Then based on successful experience from home and abroad, this dissertation puts forward suggestions and countermeasures from five aspects, that is, from optimizing the environment of social organizations to reducing social organizations’ access threshold, enhancing governments’ support of social organizations, promoting social organizations’ capabilities of self-governance and improving governments’ supervision system of social organizations.
