The Research On Minorities’ National Identity In Gansu Province

Since the 1990 s, the problems of ethnic in the multi-ethnic countries quickly became the focus of scholars around the world.Affected by international nationalist movement, the research of China’s ethnic problems has also appeared a lot of hot spots,and this is a reflection of the existence and development of the ethnic problems. Ethnic problems are closely related to the social stability.The stability of the ethnic minority areas in China is particularly important as China is an unified multi-ethnic country,especially under the background of building a harmonious society.And the core problem is the relationship between the ethnic identity and national identity.Therefore, we must maintain the harmony and stability of the ethnic minority areas, and make efforts to raise awareness of the national identity of ethnic minorities.This study is based on the relevant theories of ethnology and sociology, and takes ethnic minorities in Gansu province as the research object, and adopt the ways of questionnaire and case interview to collect data.Through the analysis of the results of the questionnaire and interview, the study found that the national identity and ethnic identity of minority in Gansu are all higher, and they are not reciprocal relationship, but a kind of harmonious coexistence.But there are also some minority nationalities have certain cognitive deviation to the local cadres, the national history,and the heroes. Meanwhile,age,culture level, religious belief, family economic income and the national policy on ethnic minorities also have significant impact on national identity of minority in Gansu.In view of the problems and influence factors founded, this study puts forward some thinking to strengthen the national identity of minority in Gansu: to develop the economy of the ethnic minority areas, to enhance the material basis of national minority; to attach great importance to the culture construction of the national minority region;to build the national identity on the basis of the cultural identity;to strengthen the construction of the rule of law in the national regions and protect the legitimate rights and interests of ethnic minorities; to make civic education universal, in oder to cultivate the national consciousness and strengthen the national identity.
