Research On Culture Construction In Local Universities

At the end of twenty century, with the development of national higher education’spopularization, local ordinary colleges and universities have become the main force in highereducation scope, which shows not only in taking majority on school amount and in-rolledstudents amount, but also in carrying the important task as nurturing all kinds of talents forsocial and district economic development and pushing the process of social all aspectsconstruction. The performance of local ordinary colleges and universities directly affects theimprovement of the national higher education’s overall level. And the improvement of localordinary colleges and universities has close relationship with its own culture cultivation, thusto study on local colleges and universities’culture construction is a very important subject inpushing their effective development.This paper first studies on the factors affects the construction of local colleges anduniversities, and concludes in internal factor and exterior factor. Internal factors containscultural precipitation, founding positioning, construction of systemic culture and etc. andexterior factor contains higher education’s reform and development, the impact of socialpluralism of values, sector culture and district culture influence and so on. On the basic ofstudy factors affects local colleges and universities culture cultivation, this paper takes WuhanTextile University as study example, analyzing its cultural construction ways, summarizing itsachievements and also showing the existing problems.Basing on the study of Wuhan Textile University, this paper put up five strategiesfocusing on local ordinary colleges and universities culture cultivation. First, it is leading bycharacteristic strategy, including setting up feature developing concept, developing featurecourse, building district culture; second, it is leading by brand strategy, including setting upbrand awareness, enhancing brand value, strengthening the construction of securitymechanism and emphasizing community construction, etc.; third, it is standard systemstrategy, including analyzing internal management structure and forming sound system; fourth,it is environment-founding strategy, including forming both good internal and exteriorenvironmental which is good for school development; fifth, it is leading by public commentsstrategy, including forming collective values and enhancing social recognition to the values.At last, this paper suggests ways to help local ordinary colleges and universities cultivateand construct culture in five aspects. First, it is improving school self awareness, usingsocialist core value system lead the school cultural construction and fostering cultureawareness among faculty and students; second, it is strengthening facility construction; third,it is nurturing college spirit, carrying on college tradition and forming excellent school spirit,teaching spirit, learning spirit and strong academic atmosphere; fourth, it is enriching campusactivities, taking good advantage of resource and developing internet cultural activities; fifth,it is reinforcing communication with outside.
