Reza Shah And Education Modernization Research In Iran(1921—1941)

Iran is the ancient civilization and great power in Islamic World, Iran’s modernization is very representative in world’s modernization. Education modernization is an important part of the Iran’s modernization and plays an extremely vital role. Compared with the translation of political, economic, social and religious of Iran, Iran’s education modernization receives much less attention in our country. As a great power in Middle East, Iran has an important strategic position and rich natural resources. To China, pursuing a positive relationship with Iran are extremely important realistic significance. Education is an opportunity to strengthen ties between the Iran and China. This needs us to comprehensive understand education history of Iran. From this point on, this thesis has a certain realistic significance.Based on the view of Reza Shah’s education reform, this paper has six parts. First, the preface clarifies motivation of research, and analyzes related papers. Second, in addition to defining the concept of modernization and education modernization, this part dwell on the education modernization impact and sense to modernization. Third, it analysis background of Reza Shah’s education reform, including the international and domestic backgrounds of Iran prior to the reform, and education background include emphasising on education of theIran tradition, the tradition education gradually declined and theeducation reform at end of the Qajar Dynasty. Fourth, Reza Shah carryout a strategy of education nationalization、education secularization、education westernization, and process of education modernizationreform. Fifth, it is a summarization of and reflection on the RezaShah’s education reform. Sixth, the conclusion summarizes the wholepaper and draws the conclusion for the research.
