John Rawls (1921-2002) is a famous contemporary philosopher, ethicist, political scientist of America, and is a professor of Harvard University. His social justice theory has a widespread and lasting influence both in the western academia and the Eastern and Western society. The theory of "Justice as fairness" discussed how to make all kinds of social resources allocate as equal as possible on the premise of guaranteeing citizens basic freedom. Considered education as an important way to the social justice, John Rawls had discussed profoundly. Along with the "fairness and justice" put forward, which is a goal of harmonious social, the problem of education justice has been a topic of concern to the public. The report of the17th Party Congress stressed that "education is the cornerstone of nation rejuvenation; education justice is the important foundation of social justice". Education as a public social resource and an important constituent of social system, or as a way to promote the individual development, it should be endowed with the fair character of justice. The education must meet the requirements of justice, and the development of education must be constantly expanding the scope of justice. During the period of China social and economic transition, and for the importance of the education distribution justice, researching John Rawls’ social justice theory has certain theoretical and realistic meanings. The frame of the study is as follows:The first part is introduction. Firstly, there is an overview of the scope and purpose of the study, and then is the definition and description of the related concepts. Secondly, the reasons why chose the topic and the significance of it are discussed, while the research status at home and abroad are reviewed. Finally, the analysis of the ideas, methods, keystones and innovations of the study are showed. The second part is the introduction of John Rawls and his social justice theory. The brief introduction of John Rawls’ life and the main content of social justice theory are given in this part.The third part is the analysis of John Rawls’social justice applied to pedagogy. The hypothesis of human nature, the value orientation and the realization route of justice emerged in John Rawls’social justice theory are discussed, and its revelations to education justice are analyzed.The fourth part is the exhibition of educational justice problem in China from the perspective of John Rawls’social justice. It mainly discusses a series of problems just appeared in the field of China’s education justice.The fifth part is the revelation of John Rawls’social justice to China’s education justice. According to the current education justice problem in China, we must take some actions to realize the fairness of education, for example, improving the education justice consciousness, compensating vulnerable groups, constructing the ethics of education system as well as supervising the operation of public education power.
