A Survey Of Social Justice Attitudes Of Social Workers

The social work literature documents a historical and contemporary debate about social work's social justice mission to the poor and disenfranchised and the practice of clinical social work.Segments of the social work literature suggest this debate is representative of a practice bifurcation,and consequentially,an ongoing problem for the mission of the profession.Critics allege that social workers practicing in clinical settings may be less committed to the profession's original mission of social justice for the poor and disenfranchised with a preference for practice.The 164 questionnaires were collected through Internet.the problem is to analyze the relationship between the background variables and social justice.and discuss the gap between social justice belief and social justice practice.Study findings indicate There is statistically significant relationship between the background variables and the mean total Social Justice Survey score except gender,social work education,social justice knowledge practice direction variables.Also,there is not a statistically significant correlation between social justice belief and practice behavior.According to the results as above,four suggestions can be put forward.On the society level,advance the recognition from social work;On the government level,improve the system of ruling the govern by law and build a comprehensive social welfare system.Across the social work agencies,promote the professional sense of belonging and career development of social workers through the recognition of social workers;For individual,continue to enhance their own professional knowledge accumulation and establish their own unique values.
