Purpose: The purpose of this paper was to study the effect of Compound E-Jiao Slurry onathletes’ heart function, by analyzing the frequency domain index of heart rate variability ofrugby athletes after taking Compound E-Jiao Slurry for eight weeks. It analyses CompoundE-Jiao Slurry’s effects on athletes’ autonomic nerve function and the recovery of fatigue, by thecombination of testosterone, cortisol, blood and other indexes, to provide references formonitoring rugby training with HRV index and avoids overtraining even sudden death.Methods: According to the principle of double-blind randomized,16rugby athletes wereselected in Liaoning province and were randomly assigned to experimental group and controlgroup,(8athletes for each group). The experimental group athletes took Compound E-JiaoSlurry and control group athletes took placebo. Athletes in the experimental group took20ml athalf an hour before meals three times per a day, lasting for8weeks. Athletes in the control grouptook placebo with same method of experimental group. At the same time the athletes avoidedtaking other nutritional supplement and medicine.16athletes were engaged in the normaltraining in the same environment during the test. The training plan, training amount and intensityof the two groups were almost the same. Athletes’ information (height, weight, blood pressure,pulse),electrocardiogram (ECG), heart rate variability, serum testosterone and cortisol bloodindexes were tested before formal experiment. The same test would be taken again after takingmedicine8weeks later. We studied the effects of Compound E-Jiao Slurry on the athletes’ heartfunction by comparing the indicators before and after taking Compound E-Jiao Slurry.We useSPSS17.0statistical software to analyze the data of two times after normal distribution test withpaired t test method.Results:(1) One athlete had premature heart throb in the control group by electrocardiogram testing. Otherathletes were normal. Besides, two athletes had ectopic cardiac rhythm in experimental group before and afterthe test. They were not the same person. One had ectopic cardiac rhythm before the test and the other had itafter the test. Other athletes were normal.(2) Comparing the control group with the experimental group before the test, there were nosignificant differences on total output value by analyzing HRV in each frequency domain index.The autonomic nervous tension of athletes in two groups were almost the same. There were nosignificant differences in the changes of low frequency, extremely low frequency, and in thecontrol group before and after the test. The high frequency after the test was higher than it before the test in experimental group. LF/HF value after the test was lower than it before the test. Therewere significant differences in high frequency and LF/HF value (p <0.05).(3) The cortisol content of rugby athletes was lower than it before the test and testosterone valuewas higher after taking Compound E-Jiao Slurry eight weeks later. There were significantdifferences (p <0.05); T/C ratio had no obvious changes in the control group. It increased in theexperimental group. There were significant differences (p <0.05); the control group showed anincreasing trend of blood urea. The control group was opposite. There were significantdifferences.(4) There were no statistical differences on hemoglobin, red blood cell pressure and the numberof red blood cells between experimental group and control group before the test. Compared withthe control group, the experimental group showed an increased trend of amount of hemoglobin,red blood cells relative oxygen uptake after test. There were significant differences (p <0.05).There was no significant change of Red blood cells deposited. There were obvious changes ofsystolic blood pressure and diastolic blood pressure in control group before and after the test. Butthe systolic blood pressure increased in experimental group. There were significant differences(P <0.05).(5)There were no significant differences on the index of serum creatine kinase (CK), alanineaminotransferase, aspartate aminotransferase between experimental group and control groupbefore the test. But the experimental group’s CK values was higher. There were no statisticalsignificances. The index of serum creatine kinase, alanine aminotransferase, aspartateaminotransferase, and creatinine showed a downward trend after the test. There were nostatistical differences.Conclusion:1. Compound E-Jiao Slurry can improve the cardiac vagus nerve tension, reducethe sympathetic nervous activity and improve the athletes’ heart function.2. Compound E-Jiao Slurry has a certain inhibition effect on body catabolism of rugby athletes.It improves the recovery of body fatigue.3. Compound E-Jiao Slurry has effect on improving the ability of carrying oxygen of rugbyathletes.4. The effect of Compound E-Jiao Slurry is effective and safe for fatigue resistance withoutappearing bad situations.
