The new curriculum reform of elementary education isimplemented in2001. The English teachers as the coreparticipants play an important role in the reform. It providesopportunity since the English Curriculum Standard wasimplemented, and it also faces the big challenge for the newteaching materials are used and some teaching methods areproposed. This is particularly to promote professionaldevelopment of English teachers. For varieties of reasons, thedifferences of professional quality between the rural juniormiddle school English teachers and the urban school teachershave always been there which affects English teaching in ruralmiddle school. It is obvious that the study on professionaldevelopment of teachers in urban teachers is more than in rural.Rural teacher and each subject teachers’ professionaldevelopment issues are still not comprehensive and deeper.The thesis explores the present situation of the trainingmode of English backbone teachers’ Replacement of Full-timeTraining of training program in the country (2013) in Guizhouprovince. People can understand present situation ofprofessional development of English teachers through surveyand interview. The method of percentage calculation is adopted in the process of the obtaining data. The thesis points out theexisting problems and analyzes the reasons. Then the researcherputs forward proposals for professional development of juniormiddle school English teachers in Guizhou province.This thesis mainly consists of seven parts:ChapterⅠ introduce the research background as well as thepurposes and significances of this study,the research objectand methods,and the innovation and deficiency of the research.Chapter Ⅱ,an overview of teacher professionaldevelopment is given, including its definition and relatedstudies at home and abroad.Chapter III is literature review. Outline the theoreticalbasis of teachers’ professional development include lifelonglearning theory and constructivism theory.Chapter IV is an analysis of the status of rural junior highschool English teachers’ professional development. Throughquestionnaires introduces the findings of the survey onprofessional development of English teachers.Chapter Ⅴis a cause analyze the problem of rural juniorhigh school English teachers ’professional development.Issuesare analyzed and listed from the different perspectives ofpolicies, government, schools and teachers. Chapter Ⅵ is the recommendations for improvement of ruraljunior high school English teachers’ professional development.Put forward some proposals for the problems of rural junior highschool English teachers’ professional development in order tooptimize the environment of teachers’ professional developmentand enhance teachers’ professionalism.Chapter Ⅶ is the conclusion of the whole thesis.
