The high speed development of information technology advancedthe improvement of mathematics education, and the integrationtechnology of information is the trend in mathematics subject innew era, which calls the emerging of the application of multimediain the improvement of education in the information age. Traditionaleducation and multimedia education, these two teaching approacheshave their innate advantage and disadvantage respectively, and ofcourse leading to different results in the influence of studentsstudy. However, the problems mostly considered by the teachers inmiddle school are not the effects of two kinds of teaching methodover the students, the grade of effects and the appropriate methodfor teaching, but how to use multimedia in teaching and how tointegrate information technology and mathematics subject together.This paper takes the teaching content of Equation ApproximateSolution with Dichotomy as example, the researcher designsdifferent mathematics teaching experiment according to differentteaching methods, together with text paper, questionnaire and classobservation, aiming to statistic and analyze the various resultsof achievement of studying target of students. The finality ofresearch shows that in dichotomy method, the multimedia approacheson the mastering technique and knowledge, skilling in processes and ways, reaching the emotional and value points of view have itspositive efficiency. But this diverge can only be found in the upperor middle level students, which has no explicit effects on thestudents who are in the trouble of studying; and in the sexualaspects female students gets more profit than that on the malestudents.In the last part, according to the study, the researcher givessome pieces of advice toward the application of multimedia methodsin mathematics teaching in middle school: the teachers shoulddecide whether to choose multimedia or not according the conditionof certain content in each lesson and the special situation ofstudents in each class; and the teachers should make fullpreparation for the using of multimedia, with the advantage oftraditional method, they can increase the efficiency of teaching,scientifically cultivating the mathematical level, ability andaccomplishment of students.
