The study uses a questionnaire about the generation and operation ofundergraduates’ virtual organization life to investigate the situation of500undergraduates in Jiangxi province by adopting stratified cluster sampling method.By using SPSS11.5dealing with the questionnaire, it analyzes the manners andmotivations of undergraduates to join the virtual organization, the formation of therules in virtual organization, members’ attitude toward the operation of the virtualorganization, and the differences in three dimensions that the virtual organization’spositive and negative influence on undergraduates with different individual factors(including gender, grade, school, subject, economic status, family type, whether theone-child, etc.). Through selecting two virtual organizations that the undergraduatesvisit most frequently, the QQs and BBS, and picking the topic chat records, usingvirtual ethnography and content analysis, combined with the survey data, analyze thechats, and coming to the following conclusions:Firstly, the undergraduates’ virtual organization is not achieved overnight. Itformed slowly on the basis of a great deal of preparatory work. The undergraduates’virtual organization is mainly based on some kind of real organization. In the processof the organizational members’ joining, many of them are positive and active. Theirmotivations mainly meet the needs of the interpersonal aspects. With the developmentof the organization, the organization has its rules and leaders, the structure is moreclear, and the function is identified. Concequently, a virtual organization is created.Secondly, in the undergraduates’ virtual organization, the organizational goalsand individual goals are relatively clear. Leaders exist in the organization. Moreover, the major forms of leadership are opinion leaders who have an important impact onthe organizational members and their opinions tend to be the the turning point of viewin the communication. The incentive mechanism is more focused on spiritual reward.Meanwhile, more than half of all undergraduates’ virtual organizations have a goodrunning order, members of the organization belonging to a certain extent. Only a handful of undergraduates’ virtual organizations can not operate well, facing thedanger of dissolution at any time.Thirdly, the undergraduates’ virtual organization plays an important role inundergraduates’ daily life. The undergraduates almost daily log in or access the virtualorganization. QQs is the most commonly access of virtual organization inundergraduates. The virtual organization’s positive influence is higher than itsnegative influence on undergraduates’ real life. Male and female undergraduates havesignificant differences in the two dimensions of "social emotion" and "interpersonal".There are significant differences in the three dimensions of "knowledge acquisition","social emotion" and "interpersonal" among different undergraduates with differentdisciplines, grades or schools.
