The national basic education curriculum reform of the new round greatly advocatesthe teaching way, which encourage students to actively participate in the exploratorylearning. However, the questions are how to effectively evaluate the students’ behaviorin their exploratory learning, and how the evaluation methods can really improve theirexploring ability in chemistry experiment? At present, the evaluation methods adoptedin chemistry experiment teaching of high school mainly are experimental reports, which have some problems. Nevertheless, another evaluation methods, worksheet, ispopular in the international education field. In this study, we adopted the quasi-experimental approach, which took120seniorgrade students of two classes in a high school of Gansu province as research object. oneclass was taken as the experimental group, and another group as the control group.Taking the PEP High School1chemical compulsory eight exploratory experiments ascontent carriers, the exploring ability of the chemical experiment experimental groupwas evaluated according to their worksheet, while the exploring ability of the controlgroup was evaluated on the basis of their experimental report. After one semester of thatpractice, we tested all students using self-administered chemical experiment worksheet, tofind out the effect of the worksheet evaluation methods on the students’ exploringability of the chemical experiment. The results are as follows:(1) By analyzing the final marks of the students’ exploring ability of the chemicalexperiment, we found that in the mass the chemical experiment exploring ability of thestudents in experimental group was better than that of the students in control group, which suggested that the worksheet evaluation, compared to the experimental reportevaluation, could improve the students’exploring ability of the chemical experiment.(2) By analyzing the seven elements that constitute the ability of students toexplore chemistry experiments, we found that the worksheet evaluation, compared tothe experimental report evaluation, could remarkably improve the students’ abilities inraising the questions, making the plans, collecting data, expression, conversation, reflection and evaluation; it also improve the students’ capabilities in guess, assumptions, experimental design, and drawing the conclusion, the effect is not quiteclear though.(3) By analyzing the chemical experiment exploring ability of the students indifferent situation, we found that the worksheet evaluation, compared to theexperimental report evaluation, could effectively improve the chemical experimentexploring ability more effectively for super students. However, for the medium and thepotential students, the improving is not effective.(4) By analyzing the chemical experiment exploring ability of the students ofdifferent sexuality, we found that the worksheet evaluation, compared to theexperimental report evaluation, could improve the chemical experiment exploringability of the boys and girls to some extent, but the improving is not effective.
