Taiwan aborigines were the first ones in Taiwan, although they only has two percentof theTaiwan’s population, ethnic diversity in there."Council of Taiwan Aborigines"officially deemed it has14ethnic groups in Taiwan. Austronesian, which is used byTaiwan aborigines, it takes a significant academic place in the linguistic and culturalhistory of the world austronesian family. Meanwhile, due to the development of economy,migration of population, colonial domination, and inappropriate language policy, theirlanguages has been facing the crucial situation of extinction. In2009, UNESCO issued alist of endangered languages, in which the aboriginal languages of Taiwan have24kinds.To protect the indigenous languages and culture’ inheriting, for nearly20years, theTaiwan government releasing a series of policy for protecting the aboriginal languageeducation policy, to correct the abuse of disadvantages of the language assimilation policyin the past, These policies including the original languages listed as nine-year-sequencecurriculum, the Aboriginal Language Writing System, Language Certification System andAboriginal Language Revitalization Plan for Six Years and so on. To some degree, allthese measures are promote the native language education more or less, but there wre stillexisted some problems. Face the problems in the past and the challenge for the future ofthe language education in Taiwan, they introduced the new type of language educationpolicy which fit for their own situation, they introduced the language nest in preschooleducation, launched the Third Semester System National Experimental School Plan inbasic education, using the college of native tribes to promote national language educationin the adult education, at the same time, The government introduced the Latest WhitePaper on Aboriginal Education Policy and the Rescue the Endangered Languages ofAoriginal Implementation Plan, using these plans in order to make the aboriginal languageeducation better in the future. Finally, to promote our cross-strait language education.This paper is divided into six parts. The first part is introduces the researchbackground and what research methods used in the study,.The second part is the literaturereview about the aboriginal language education by scholars of both sides of the Strait.The third part describes the background of the aboriginal language education policy byAnalysis the background of economic and political and educational in Taiwan for the past20years. The fourth part introduced the development process and content about aboriginallanguage education policy in the past20year. The fifth part is analyzed implementationeffectiveness of the policy and summarize the issues about this policy of Aboriginallanguage education in Taiwan. and government reforms to open up a new direction by these challenges and. The last part according to the changes of Taiwan aboriginal languageeducation policy, to generate new revelation about improving the national minoritylanguage education policy continent.
