The implementation of the new curriculum reform requires middle schoolgeography teaching should change the past knowledge teaching type and the students’passive accepting learning. Apply activity teaching in geography, which can allowstudents to acquire knowledge and skills initiatively, as well as improve the ability toanalyze and solve problems while learning something new.At present, geography teaching activities in Baiyin junior high schools isinadequate, the implementation of them is not good, teachers quality defects and thecondition of teaching constrained. This is not in line with the new curriculum idea, butalso hindered the development of activity teaching. In order to improve the teachingpresent situation, the author conducts the research from the request of the newcurriculum reform, combined modern education idea with the education internship,exploring the existing problems in the teaching of Geography in Junior Middle Schoolsof Baiyin.The research object is the three middle schools second grade junior middle schoolstudents and geography teachers in Baiyin. The author adopted questionnaire surveymethod, three middle school second day of baiyin all the students of class two, grade doquestionnaire survey. Through the questionnaire survey to understand the currentteaching activities to carry out the basic situation, what was the attitude of students tothe activity teaching, have any questions and Suggestions. Six to three high schooljunior high school geography teachers and eighteen students interview investigation.Interview on teachers and students view of activity teaching and the problems existingin the practical teaching and experience, is the complement and verify the result of thequestionnaire. By the end of the interview to students and teachers’ interviews and dataanalysis summary after combining the results of the questionnaire, find out the commonproblems existing in current geography teaching activities and inductive analysis.Survey found that students who are not interested in geography class, rarely takethe initiative to participate in the activity teaching; Teachers’ inadequate preparation,lack of activity design capability; Coupled with lack of geographical activities result in baiyin junior high school geography teaching quality is not high. After analysis, themain reason is the student to the geography importance is not enough; Teachers’professional quality defects; Limited geographical activity teaching hardware. Theauthor put forward to solve these problems to change the teaching ideas, improvegeography teachers’ basic quality evaluation mechanism, to improve teaching conditionsand change a few aspects of the countermeasures. Hope for more lessons of geographyteachers, thus improve the overall quality of the baiyin junior high school geographyteaching activities, let students really get effective development in geography teaching.
