This study used the method of literature, comparative analysis, expert interviews,historical method and so on, with the evolution and propagation of baba chess as theresearch object, starting from the background and motivation of communication ofbaba chess, then study on the direction, route, evolution of baba chess, the followingconclusion：Background of baba chessma：the word “xiang xi” was appearenced from xiangjing with emperor Wu of the Norther Zhou Dynasty system, because of the difficulty,it is unable to obtain advocates of the upper class, in order to meet the ruler’s favor,baba chess was born on the basis of the xiangxi by creating, and changing the game sothat more simple and easy to grasp,and thus formed a chessboard with8*8black-and-white checkered woven,symbols eighty-eight hexagrams,using the pieces like as jiang,shi, xiang, che, ma, zu to follow the ancient bureaucracy, each piece has its own wayto play in the lattice, a chess game liked a simulated war.Propagational motivations of baba chess：the Northern and Southern Dynasties arethe period of national integration, eliminatt ethnic barriers between Hu and Han, pro-mote cultural exchanges, which is a prerequisite for the baba chess can spread in theminority areas. Secondly, the national social stability snd harmony in the Tang andSong Dynasties, people has more leisure time, baba chess can meet each class as arelatively quiet puzzle game, at the same time, the prosperity of the Tang and SongDynasties political,economic and culture, created so many countries to learning Chinaculture, baba chess as a Chinese excellent culture, and a powerful political andeconomic support, make sure the outward propagation.Propagational ways of baba chess：the land Silk Road, maritime the Silk Road andthe tea horse road are the main ways to propagate. In this road, Silk Road on land isChina opened the earliest trade channel,to the Tang Dynasty is unprecedentedprosperrity, its initial capital Chang’an, exit from Xinjiang to Central Asia, WestAsia,as far as the Red Sea. Maritime Silk Road is the new channel after the land SilkRoad opened, is an important channel for China and East Asia, Southeast and SouthAsia. The tea horse road is the main way to exchage between southwest China and theSoutheastAsian countries, also connect the Central Plains area inland with thesouthwest border. Baba chess propagate to Japan, Korea, Burma, Thailand, Persia andother countries by the three ways. Propagational directions and routes of baba chess：baba chess since invention,domestic traffic line like a spider web, divergent to spread across the country, on thebasis of this, through the East, South, West, North four directions to foreign countries,paopagate eastward to Korea, Japna；spread south to Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam,Kampuchea and other countries；propagate westward to India, Persia, Arabia, EasternEuropean countries；spread north into the northern minority with ruled the countryarea.
