Particularities of “life and philosophy” require the course must keep up with thetimes. This requires the textbook must be combined with the teaching practice, its changesmust be in line with the requirements of the curriculum standard’s development, and whichcan effectively guide students to study, to help teachers’ teaching. Since the founding ofnew China, the textbook of “life and philosophy” has gone through many revisions, and theguiding ideology and the main content have undergone many great changes. This paperfocuses on the objective analysis to current textbook of “life and philosophy”, combinedwith teaching practices, the trends of college entrance examination reform, and foreignphilosophical education, in order to raise some practical recommendations on modify thetextbook, ultimately to promote the teaching of “life and philosophy”.This paper consists of five parts. The preface is to demonstrate the value andsignificance of this study. The first part introduces the history of the textbook of “life andphilosophy” in our middle school, which contains the change of guiding ideology, mainstructure and presentation forms. The second part analyses the current textbook from itsbackground to main framework, knowledge, and main features. This part also raises thenecessity to modify the current textbook from the use of it, the reform to college entranceexamination and compare to foreign philosophical education. The third part offers somesuggestions to modify the current textbook. The epilogue summarizes the whole paper.
