With the pushing of the new curriculum reform, all aspects of school educationhave undergone great changes. High school geography teaching is also facing the newsituation and challenges, and the traditional teaching methods and models cannot fit inwith the needs of the geography teaching in the new situation. The teacher should try touse new methods and models in the teaching process to keep up with the socialdevelopment and improve the teaching effect. Therefore, in this thesis, the EssentialSignal Method is introduced into the Geography Teaching of Senior Middle Schooland has been studied.The Essential Signal Method is established by Victor Luoweiji Shatalov, afamous educator of the former Soviet Union, which is based on many years of teachingexperience and experimental research. It is a set of teaching method system, in whichthe Essential Signal chart acts as the core, with the characteristics of visual in image,brief, focus, clear and so on. The use of Essential Signal Method in teaching is notonly helpful for students to grasp the key points and facilitate their understanding andmemory of the teaching material, but also can strengthen the systematic and coherenceof the subject, and closely connect various disciplines, to improve the systematicthinking ability of students. The teaching time will be saved and the teaching efficiencywill be improved. Adopting methods of literature analysis, case study, single interview,experience summarization, this thesis tries to find out the reason, method and solutionof the application of the Essential Signal Method in the Geography Teaching ofSenior Middle School by thinking and analysis.This thesis focuses on three aspects; the first part discusses the production, thebasic arguments and the main ideas of the Essential Signal Method in detail, and triesto seek the theoretical foundation of the Essential Signal Method combined with thetheory of pedagogy and psychology. And the author tries to understand the EssentialSignal schema theory as well as the research in the application of the EssentialSignal teaching method in teaching at home and abroad through the method ofliterature. The second part analyzes the types, design principles, design steps and the application requirement of the Essential Signal diagram. In the third part, on one hand,the author analyzes the advantages and effects of the application of the EssentialSignal Method in high school geography teaching according to the characteristicsand the practical status of this teaching method. On the other hand, the author discussesthe methods of the application and implementation of the Essential Signal Method indifferent teaching procedures by specific teaching cases combined with his teachingpractice and tries to provide a new train of thought and method for the application ofthe Essential Signal Method in high school geography teaching. On this basis, theauthor discusses the problems needed to pay more attention to during the application ofthe Essential Signal method in high school geography teaching after reflection andsummary, which may provide some reference for the high school geography teachers,thus to make more geography teachers think the geography teaching, optimize theteaching models and methods in order to achieve better teaching effect.
