It is a common problem of students with learning difficulties, which is hard to be solved in almost every school. It is a realistic and challenging task for teachers to help and transfer those students with learning difficulties successfully, considering the complicated reason of formation. Furthermore, the fundamental purpose of school is to make every student (including the students with learning difficulties) have been whole-developed people. Thus, there will be a very important practical significance to find a good way to successfully transfer those underachievers.It has made a significant influence on the education since Multiple Intelligences came to the world. Many countries began to put multiple intelligence theory into teaching practice. This paper explores how teaching strategies can be used to transform students who have different intelligence structure with learning difficulties in English in order to enhance their learning based on the theory of Gardner’s multiple intelligences.This thesis is divided into five parts, the first part deals with the research background, significance, research questions and thesis structure. Then it introduced the students with learning difficulties and the concept definition of students with learning difficulties in English, domestic and foreign research on this issue, the traditional concept of intelligence, highlighting the multiple intelligence theory of the background, content, features and transformation basis. In the second part, the author also introduces the definition of students with learning difficulties and summarizes the causes of the formation of students with learning difficulties in English, analyzing both from internal and external causes. Then, this study designs the teaching experiment, and using the questionnaires on multiple intelligences and students’learning condition in English to learn their current state, under the condition of knowing the intelligence structure of students, the author made the teaching experiment according to their individual differences within the guide of multiple intelligence theory so that their advantages of intelligence can be fully exploited. At the same time in this way can we stimulate and develop their disadvantages of intelligence, and gradually their self-confidence and interest in learning can also be cultivated and enhanced, after a semester’s experiment, the scores of students with learning difficulties in experimental class are improved; their intelligence also gets the development; the interest in English learning is inspired, the experiment achieves the desired results, in the end, the ultimate purpose of transforming students with learning difficulties can be achieved.
