| Since China’s economic development entered in the21st century, new economic models such as knowledge economy and information economy have been gradually risen and developed. Development of the knowledge economy must be supported by high-tech industries, intellectual resources and higher education. Higher education cannot develop well without the support of economic development. In recent years, with the popularization of development of higher education in China, student enrollment and scale of universities and colleges have been constantly increased. Thus, the industrialization of higher education has emerged. Currently, a lot of college towns are under construction or planned to be built in many places, which not only develops higher education and cultivates talents but also brings lots of business opportunities for economic development. Therefore, the issue of how to promote the coordinated development of higher education, economy and society by relying on the construction of college town becomes a major one which needs research.Through data collection, compilation and field survey, this thesis utilizes the comparative case analysis to analyze the domestic and foreign college towns’ origins, construction management models, and its own characteristics, summarize the reasonable construction management models of China’s college towns, and propose specific recommendations for the construction and development of science and education town in Tangshan Bay Eco-city. Construction and development of college must fully rely on the integrated development of urban resources, and combined with the city development. The construction and development of science and education town in Tangshan Bay Eco-city should be closely combined with urban development and adjusted to local conditions.This paper is divided into four chapters. The first chapter describes the research background and purpose of the development of college towns, summarizes the main content and methods of this paper, and introduces the writing idea and framework. The second chapter focuses on the analysis of origins, development, types and characteristics of foreign college towns by comparing cases. In the third chapter, China’s college towns will be described in terms of development process, characteristics and main issues existing in the development process of college towns. By comparing the construction and management of domestic and foreign college towns, the fourth chapter analyzes the development model of college towns and obtains some inspirations by combining personal work. Finally, the concluding part makes a simple general summary of the whole thesis. |
