| With the construction of the learning society and lifelong learning system, the idea of learning for all and lifelong learning has been popular, working staff especially executive managers’ demand on post-university continuing education is more and more critical. As an important part of lifelong learning system, continuing education in university has begun its transition from academic education to non-academic education. But problem during this process is the obstacle for the university to serve the society better. American has formed very rounded system of continuing education in university, and it can provide some good references for the universities especially premier universities in our country.This paper takes investigation and document analysis as the main method, meaning to drew some lessons for the development of continuing education in our country by analyzing experiences of the universities abroad.This paper has five chapters:Chapter1elaborates the methods and the meaning of this research, defines the related concept and shows the existing research results of this field.Chapter2and chapter3explain six cases. These two chapters show the characters of the non-academic continuing education in domestic and overseas respectively based on the cases.Chapter4analyzes and compares the characters of the non-academic continuing education in domestic and overseas from several aspects, such as orientation, teacher training, customized courses, development scale and international cooperation.Chapter5is the advice. This chapter focuses on the challenges universities faced during the transition, and try to provide some development advices for the other universities especially key universities based on the above mentioned. |
