In the history of the world, Britain is a very typical country. Although the country is just so small, it’s able to be the first one to finish the industrial revolution, leading the process of the modern civilization of the world. Sheffield, known as one of several big cities on the island, and its development have a remarkable and important status, which also makes great contributions to the economic development of Britain.Sheffield, located in the South Yorkshire in Northern England, has been gathering its power quietly for a long time. It was unknown except its high-quality tableware. Later, the cutlery, especially the development of the iron and steel industry, led to the prosperity of the city, and then to the peak of the boom. After the industrial revolution, the city’s manufacturing and heavy industry have been weakened on account of the emergence of new energy, new industries and coupled with the impact of the economic crisis. The city was facing with the challenge of transformation. Just as the people were looking for the way out, a coincidence showed an opportunity to the city, with which Sheffield started its own way of cultural Renaissance. It didn’t disappoint us. After years of efforts, Sheffield finally became a new city with the integration of economic, cultural, ecological benefits and so on.Choosing the right road, now Sheffield has successfully achieved its own transformation today. At the same time, its success provides a good example and reference for the development and transformation of urban cities and for the research of the city’s developmental rules, which is worth our deeply thoughts and serious consideration.
