The new lesson of Biology in Shanghai is indicated and clearly pointedout, Biology should make all the students know and understand the informationof Biology after they graduate from their schools, enable students to cooperatewith others harmoniously. We should focus on cultivating students’ ability ofinquiry and innovation. The inquiry-based teaching mode takes an important partin our teaching mode. As a biology teacher in middle school, I hope more andmore biology teachers can find appropriate teaching methods from my researchand I hope I can provide an available teaching mode in this research.This paper mainly uses literature research method, questionnaire methodand action research method. Through research on inquiry-based teaching mode athome and abroad and summarizing the teaching experience of others, I haveformed my own inquiry-based teaching mode which is suitable to the students ofXiJiao School in Shanghai. At the same time, I did research on two classes inthe same grade, one of which is the control group and the other is theexperimental group in one semester. I taught the control group in normal teachingmode and the experimental group in this inquiry-based teaching mode during thesame period. The result of this research indicates that the inquiry-based teachingmode in middle school can make all students actively take part in their study. Bycultivating students’ ability in this inquiry-based teaching mode,all students’enthusiasm in study can be promoted. This teaching mode improves the students’attitudes and the ways of learning‘The students can feel the joy of success in aharmonious atmosphere. This teaching mode eventually enhances the students’comprehensive quality and their innovation ability.
