With the development of our country’s education, the requirements of students’all-round development are higher and higher. As a special group of students, theunderachievers’ development should draw more attention.This essay using case analysis and questionnaire survey to find out the reasons thatcause the underachievers to have difficulty in learning, and deliberately select six studentsof five different Math underachiever types in senior middle school and do case study forthem, and then discuss the transformation strategies of underachievers in a humanist’sopinion. From the results, we find that being lack of Math learning motivation, havingimproper learning methods, careless in learning process, low self-efficacy andpsychological shadow in learning Math are the main reasons, and summarize operationalconcrete methods and principles of underachievers’ transformation of Math study.For the underachievers whose motivation is not strong, at first we can let themexperience a sense of accomplishment, then stimulate their interest in learning;for theunderachievers using improper learning methods, we can guide them how to learn; for theunderachievers who are careless in learning, we can monitor and control their learningprocess and analysis their error; For the underachievers who have poor self-efficacy, wecan creating opportunities to experience success for them, and help them attribute correctly.For the underachievers who have psychological shadow on their parents or teachers, wecan reduce the requirement appropriately and create new situations where they cangenerate a new sense of the value and get out of the shadows.The research aims at making the wide educators, especially the Mathematics teachersin high schools clear about the reasons that the Math underachievers appear, so that theywill be paid more attention to and be helped. In addition, the essay can provide somesuggestions and upgrade the current Math underachievers as well as helping in reducingthe number of Math underachievers. The essay can also be reference for Math teachers ofother schools such as junior middle school. The writer hopes to make some contributions to the Math teaching in our country by doing this.
