In the process of the implementation of quality-oriented education, the influence ofexamination-oriented education system is still dominant through maths teaching. Boringcontent, students’ lack of interest in learning and emotional experience, teachers’ lack ofinnovation spirit and the neglect of cultivating students’ ability of practice make it urgent tocarry out the reform. In order to make maths teaching more adaptable to the developmentof the times, it’s necessary to equip maths teaching with sentiment and appreciation.This paper focuses on the design and practice of maths appreciation course. Firstly, itmakes a preliminary research on the course, summarizing the classification of curriculumcontent. After referring to a large number of documents, some materials are listed andpresented. Secondly, according to students’ actual level, the teacher designs and carries outthree lesson plans. The paper analyzes the cases respectively after class. Finally, it makesan analysis on the results of the questionnaires.The feedback at the earlier stage and later stage indicate that the course is welcomedby the students. Through the course, the students feel the beauty of maths, finding itinteresting and useful. In this way, the course not only stimulates the interest and pleasureof the students, helping them build self-confidence, but also plays an important role inenhancing humanistic quality, innovation, exploring spirit, independent practice ability andaesthetic ability. At the end of the paper, it gives some suggestions on teaching maths andadvises giving maths appreciation course more time and space to benefit the students.
