| At present, with the position of English is increasingly consolidated, the importance of English education is gradually recognized by people all over the world. The English education reform of middle school is widely concerned with the basic education reform promoting after the21st century. English teaching is regarded as the important subject both in urban and rural middle school. High school English teaching guides the students to develop good habits, attitudes and interest in English learning and help the students improve the basic daily communication. Therefore, English learning is the important subject for students in the process of English learning. However, the rural and urban middle school students in China have obvious differences in English learning.Therefore, this thesis takes four urban and rural middle schools in Jingzhou District as an example. It analyzes the existing problems of English teaching in the urban and rural middle schools and explores the strategies of improving the differences between the urban and rural middle schools, aiming to solve the difficulties that urban and rural middle school may come across in the process of English teaching and promote the balanced development of urban and rural middle school English education. The thesis adopts the literature method, interview method and questionnaire survey method and so on.There are six chapters in all. Chapter One is the purpose and significance of this thesis. This part mainly takes four rural and urban middle schools in Jingzhou district for an example. The thesis attempts to find out the differences and influential factors between urban and rural middle schools in English teaching which can provide more practical basis for the development of English teaching in Jingzhou district and lays a solid foundation for the development of English teaching. What’s more, the thesis can contribute greatly to the balanced development of English teaching in the urban and rural middle schools in Jingzhou district.Chapter Two is the literature of the thesis. This part mainly describes the research at home and abroad. It mainly analyzes the causes of the teaching differences between the rural and urban which are put forward by some researchers. At abroad, as for the differences between the rural and the urban middle schools, lots of countries take effective measures to help the rural middle schools to develop its English teaching, including the fund investment and the reasonable allocation of the teaching resource, which can promote the balanced development in the rural and urban middle schools. At home, many researchers analyze the causes for these differences in English teaching and put forward many effective ways and measures to narrow the gap between the rural and urban middle schools and promote the development of English teaching.Chapter Three is the research design. The main methods are questionnaire and interviews. The research subjects are students coming from four typical middle school students in Jingzhou district. The research aims to study the difference between the rural and the urban middle schools about English teaching.Chapter Four is the research results. It is shown that there is great difference gap between the rural and urban middle schools. It analyzes the important factors that affect the differences between the rural and urban middle schools. It mainly includes three aspects:the school, the teacher and the student.Chapter Five is the suggestion. The author puts forward many suggestions to narrow the gap between the rural and urban middle schools and explores some strategies of improving the teaching resource, hoping to draw the government’s attention and support and hoping the government can allocate the teaching resources reasonably. Besides, it aims to promote the balanced development and accelerates the development of teaching in the rural middle schools.Chapter Six is the conclusion. |
