The twenty-first Century is the era of information. English is widely usedas a communication tool in the international political dialogue and trade,global information and technology exchange. People need to choose whatthey want in a large amount of information. It is no exaggeration to say thatEnglish reading ability is playing an important role for high school students intheir life. Therefore English teachers should pay more attention to readingteaching method. In the high school stage we should cultivate the students’reading ability, making students prepare for future development. According tothe present situation of Senior English reading teaching, the thesis will bebased on the interactive model in order to make a survey on how theinteractive teaching method affects students’ reading. The aim of the study isto improve the reading ability of students and to provide an experimentalmethod for other researchers to test. This paper consists of five parts. The firstpart mainly analyzes the present situation of Senior English reading teaching,and introduces the research purpose and its significance. The second part isthe literature review, including the nature of reading, the requirements tosenior high school students’ reading under the new curriculum standard andreading skills. Next part is the research. Data collection and analysis adoptsthe method of combining quantitative analysis and qualitative analysistogether, which includes pre-questionnaire and post-questionnaire, pre-testand post-test of the experiment. The fourth part discusses the result ofexperimental data analysis. Through one semester’s research, we can foundthat two classes who had no obvious difference before the experiment (thecontrol class and the experimental class) achieved different results. And by comparing the questionnaire before and after the experiment, it can be shownthat the experimental class students’ interest and confidence for reading havegreatly improved. The last part draws a conclusion: the interactive teachingmethod can effectively increase the students’ interest in reading and canimprove students’ reading ability, deepening students understanding of thereading materials. It is evident that the process of reading has become apleasant and effective experience. In conclusion, the interactive teachingmethod in high school reading teaching is worth trying.
