Reading is an important means for people to acquire information and exchange thoughts; it is also a necessary social-cultural skill for people who want to survive and develop in modern society. Therefore, reading issues has always been one of the focuses that language educators pay attention to whether in theory and in practice. With the deepening of China’s reform and opening up, international exchanges become more frequent, English teaching has been paid more and more attention, especially English reading teaching. Currently, foreign language teaching is facing great challenges and reform under the new situation, traditional teacher’s role as a knowledge transmitter has been challenged for this role cannot adapt to the diversified foreign language teaching. Most high school English teachers are still only concerned with analysis of the language knowledge, such as explain pronunciation, vocabulary and grammar separately. In addition, many teachers still use the traditional grammar translation method in English reading teaching. This traditional teaching method will only make the foreign language classroom lifeless. Students learn English passively and negatively and will lose interest in English learning as time passes.With the deepening of the new curriculum reform, high school English teacher began to use interactive mode to improve the students’ language level. However, how to use the Interactive Approach to improve the students’ English reading ability has always been a problem for language researchers and language teachers to solve urgently. Interactive teaching model mainly use group work such as the interaction between teacher-student, student-student, even student and multimedia and the textbook. Through the interaction to cultivate students’ interest in learning English; ensure them master effective learning strategies, and improve the students’ ability to analyze and solve problems. This paper mainly aims at solving two questions through study on the application of Interactive Approach for English reading teaching in senior high school: The first one is that whether interactive reading teaching can promote students’ interest in learning English; the other one is whether the application of interactive teaching reading can improve students’ reading comprehension abilities.This thesis mainly used the questionnaire and experimental method to demonstrate the research questions. The author chose two parallel classes as experimental subjects from NO.1 High School of Handan County. There are totally 120 students in these two classes. As the control class, Class Two, Grade Two mainly applied traditional teaching method; while the other class mainly used Interactive Approach to teaching reading as experimental class. Before the experiment, the author used questionnaire to do a survey on the students’ interest in learning English and examination to test students’ English level. After a semester of total 18 weeks’ experiment, the author chose the same method to test the students’ interest in English learning and their English level. The data was processed by SPSS 13.0. The experimental results showed that the interactive reading teaching model is superior to the traditional teaching method. The interactive teaching model can improve the students’ interest in learning and improve students’ reading ability.
