Nowadays,people can get information through various methods, such as, oralcommunication, written communication along with body language communication,through which people could be cultivated with an observant eyes. Among thesecommunications people gain from eye is70%, ear,20%and others10%. Reading is themain channel through which people can gain more knowledge. Reading comprehensioninspects thoroughly student’s vocabulary, speed of reading and understanding competence.The student’s cultivation of reading comprehension is the main aim of the teacher ofEnglish in SHS (senior high school).But after some years’ study of English, many students can not master the meaning ofthe whole passage; many problems in English reading should be compulsively solved inthe nearest future in English Language Teaching. Hence, we have to pay more attention tothe teaching of English reading in schools, especially in English classes of SHS (seniorhigh school). Now, however, in most English classes in SHS, teachers are the dominatingrole. It’s not easy for students to improve their reading abilities in classes only through theconventional teaching methodology. How to change this worse English teaching situationcurrently to solve student’s problems in vocabulary, cultural background? How to improvestudents’ English reading ability? So many “how to” bothers almost all the English teachersin China?In this paper the author made a study on the teaching of English Reading in SHS ofJinzhou, using Interactive approach which stresses the interaction between teachers andstudents, students and students and students and the reading materials. Under this newteaching method, the teacher plays a role as a counselor. Students should depend on theirown abilities to work out the problems when reading through interactive approach. Thethesis states that facing the student’s problems the teacher solved them through interactiveapproach. The empirical class are91students from No.1SHS in Jinzhou city by way of aquestionnaire, Pre-test, Post-test, interview and SPSS, among which one is EC applying tothe interactive approach and the other is CC under the traditional teaching method. Theconclusion is that through the interactive approach students have promoted their Englishreading proficiencies, gained their marks strengthened their reading power.
