Reading is one of the main ways for people to get information and knowledge.As an important part of the four language skills,reading has great effect on learner' second language acquisition.Furthermore,reading comprehension can reflect the comprehensive level of learners in terms of vocabulary,grammar,text and cultural knowledge.Therefore,cultivation of student's reading ability becomes one of the central goals of English teaching in senior high schools.However,in many senior schools,teachers still adopt traditional teaching method in English reading teaching.It is a single-direction teaching method,that is,it is mainly teacher-centered while students are passive learners.And the traditional teaching method is lack of interaction which happens among students and teachers,students themselves,students and text.As a result,the teaching approach affects reading teaching efficiency,and it also fails to stimulate students reading interest.Therefore,exploring effective English reading teaching method becomes an urgent and necessary task.The present study aims to testify a positive effects of interactive language teaching approach to senior high school English reading teaching.The two questions are to be explored:1)Can the interactive teaching approach improve student's reading ability? 2)What impacts may the interactive teaching approach have on arousing students' reading interest and cultivating their cooperative ability?The author conducts an experiment in two parallel classes in a senior school of Gaizhou.The two classes,one is chosen as the experimental class,while the other is chosen as control class.During the experiment,the experimental class is taught with the interactive approach,while the other is taught with traditional teaching approach.Research instruments include questionnaires,interview,classroom observations,pre-test and post-test.With the help of SPSS20.0,the author collects all the information which are sorts out,and analyzes the data.The results show that the interactive teaching approach can improve students' reading ability and make positive impact on arousing students' reading interest and cultivating their cooperative ability.The research yields implication to English reading in senior high schools,that is,in interactive teaching process teachers should pay more attention to stimulating students interest and interactive teaching efficiency.
