Aggression is a kind of behavior that intends to directly or indirectly injure orharm others’ body, mentality or feelings on purpose in the form of the individual orgroup unwill to accept. As a typical behavior of the social behavior development ofadolescents, aggression is gaining more and more academic attention, in which therelationship between self-esteem and aggression is a hot discussion of psychology,whereas the study of the relationship is not consistent.In this study,720junior school students in a region of Henan Province weretested by using the Aggression Questionnaire(AQ), the Self-Esteem Scale (SES) andthe revised Emotional Intelligence Scale (EIS), to explore the development ofaggression, self-esteem and emotional intelligence of the junior school students, andto study the relationship between self-esteem and aggression in junior school students,as well as to analyze the mediating effect of the emotional intelligence as the thirdvariable between self-esteem and aggressive behavior.The research data was processed and statistical analyzed by Spss18.0andAmos17.0in this study, and through the use of specific statistical methods as factoranalysis, descriptive statistical analysis, independent-samples T test, one-way analysisof variance(ANOVA), correlation analysis, hierarchical regression analysis, multiple-group analysis and so on, the conclusions of the research are as follows:(1)The score of aggression of the whole junior school students is in the loweraverage level. Boys have more physical aggression than girls; Seventh grade studentshave less aggression and its four specific aspects of performance than eighth gradeand ninth grade students; The more popular with their classmates of junior middleschool students have the less aggression; There is no significant difference of theaggression between different family background, single-child or not.(2)The score of the self-esteem of the junior school students is in the higheraverage level. The self-esteem level presents a downward in the grade, and seventhgrade students have higher self-esteem level than eighth grade and ninth gradestudents; The more popular with their classmates of junior middle school studentshave the higher self-esteem level; There is no significant difference of the self-esteembetween different genders, family background, and single-child or not.(3)The score of the emotional intelligence (EI) of the junior school students is inthe higher average level. Boys’ emotional management ability is better than girls’ emotional management ability; The whole EI and its emotional application ability ofninth grade students are better than seventh grade and eighth grade students, andstudents’ emotional comprehension ability also presents an increasing tendency in thegrade; Students from country have better emotional application ability than studentsfrom city; The more popular with their classmates of junior middle school studentshave the better ability of the whole EI and emotional perception and expression,emotional comprehension, emotional management; There is no significant differenceof the EI between single-child or not.(4)Self-esteem, EI of the junior school students has a significant negativecorrelation with aggression; Self-esteem has a significant positive correlation with EI;Self-esteem, EI have a significant negative prediction in aggression.(5)EI is a partial mediator between the relation of self-esteem and aggression,and the effect size of its mediating effect is0.128.(6)The mediating effect model of emotional intelligence has a good goodness offit with the data, and there is no difference in the gender variable, the model has agood stability.
