For individual, good social adaptability can not only promote the development of psychology healthily, but also effectively ensure them deal with setbacks and pressure. Aim of this study is to analyze the relationship of emotional intelligence, shyness and social adaptation, explore the influence of emotional intelligence and shyness on middle school students’ social adaptation condition, and then, puts forward some educational suggestions that may improve students’ social adaptability. On the basis of summarizing and analyzing literature, the study has applied three measurement tools that are “emotional intelligence questionnaire of middle school students” revised by Zou Hong and Liu Yan, “adolescent shyness scale” revised by Yuan Bin, “simple version of social adaptation assessment questionnaire” revised by Yu Yibing; 770 middle school students of four school from Henan Province, Hubei Province and Anhui Province have been surveyed. The research results indicate that:1. Middle school students’ emotional intelligence is above average, and have significant differences on the demographic variables as gender, urban-rural origin, grade, class cadre, parents’ education level and family income level.2. Middle school students’ shyness is below average, and have significant differences on some demographic variables as grade, class cadre, parents’ education level and family income level.3. Middle school students’ social adaptation is above average, and have significant differences on some demographic variables as gender, grade, class cadre, father’s education level and family income level.4. There is a significant correlation among middle school students’ emotional intelligence, shyness and social adaptation.5. Some fractal dimension of shyness and emotional intelligence have certain predictive effect on eight dimension of social adaptation.6. Shyness plays the partial intermediary role between emotional intelligence and social adaptation, that is to say, emotional intelligence can not only affect social adaptation directly, but also impact on social adaptation indirectly through shyness.7. The above research results have given some enlightenment for education as follows: cultivating middle school students’ ability to identify and monitor emotion in order to improve their interpersonal communication efficacy; Focusing on inner conflict of shy middle school students to help them establish good self-worth; guiding middle school students to master appropriate coping strategies so as to improve their social adaptation; these ways can effectively raise middle school students’ social adaptation ability.
