Reading is an important way to the development of teachers. On one hand reading canhelp teachers to improve knowledge structure, enrich their spiritual life, get their life valueand improve their humanities at the same time; on the other hand, reading helps teachers toexpand the vision,solid professional knowledge, improve the level of teaching and promotethe professional development of teachers. Reading support the teacher to become anexcellent one, no high quality reading there will be no well teaching and life. But in the realteaching life, because of the influence of the teachers themselves or some external factorsteachers’ reading form gradually generalization, value has been obscured, reading activitiesare increasingly being replaced or even forgotten. Besides these, teachers’ reading has arousedthe attention of scholars, but the research on Teachers’ reading is not enough, it needs furtherstudy.Firstly, this paper is based on reading the relevant literature, from three aspects of thevalues: those are the teacher reading general value, professional values and social value. Theyprovide the theoretical support for teachers reading.Then, by the questionnaire form acquire reading status of some primary and secondaryschool teachers. From the self understanding of reading, reading understanding, theunderstanding role of reading, reading methods, using reading, digital reading, these6partsare discussed, and adds the self interview. Five problems were found: The overall situation isnot optimistic; they lack of positive experience of reading; lack of effective reading method;tend to digital reading; need to improve the classic reading.Finally, on the basis of the analysis of the questionnaire survey and interview, five waysto solve the problem were found: encourage teachers themselves, prevent the negative impactof path dependence, look for the strategy of appropriate teacher reading, improve teachers’digital literacy and guide teacher’s classic reading.
