Early before1980s, the USA-led western countries began to focus on theleadership cultivation of junior students. In our country, we are concerned more aboutcollege Ss’ leadership training, but ignored junior Ss’ leadership development.According to the theory of Learning Critical Period, junior Ss’ are in their criticalperiod of intellectual rapid development. In this critical period, they are developingvariety of skills, as well as their leadership. And junior Ss’ leadership development isessential, whether it is from the perspective of cultivating more leadership talents sothat sublimate our basic education, or from the perspective of individual Ss’ long-termdevelopment. We should put deep concerned to junior Ss’ leadership development inour country. So, I pay attention to the present condition of junior Ss’ leadershipdevelopment in our country: What’s the status of junior Ss’ leadership? How aboutSs’ leadership training in junior high school?With two questions above, I firstly use quantitative methods to research the leveland quality of junior Ss’ leadership. Specifically, devise the junior Ss’ leadershipevaluation questionnaire on the base of “The five forces model of leadership” fromChinese Academy of Sciences’ research achievement. Then sent the questionnaires to600Ss from6different middle schools in G city of Jiangxi province. After that,statistically quantify the questionnaire, using SPSS17.0software to analize thecollected data. Finally, I found these questions to junior Ss’ leadership:(1) the overalllow level;(2) Ss’ leadership awareness is not strong;(3) Ss’ leadership structure isimbalance. For these questions, the author proposes the question to the currentdevelopment condition of junior Ss’ leadership: Whether the schools have overalldeveloped Ss’ leadership? How did the schools develop Ss’ leadership? With thesetwo questions, I use qualitative research method to do interviewing survey. Firstlyselect10persons (4principals and6teachers) from these6schools(A and D)mentioned above, as the objectives of the interview, devise an interviewing outline,conducted semi-structured interviews with respondents according to the outline. Afterthe analysis of the interviewing material, I found that there are several questions to thecultivation of the junior Ss’ leadership: The theoretical understanding for thedevelopment of junior Ss’ leadership is not in place: Schools are lack of the awarenessfor the cultivation of Ss’ leadership; The training mechanism is absence; Teachers’participation is not enough. So, these issues clearly explain why the problem of juniorSs’ leadership levels are so obvious. Finally, according to the results of survey and the findings of problems towardsto schools’ training condition, puts forward the advices on how to cultivate junior Ss’leadership for middle schools:(1) Strengthen the theoretical understanding of juniorSs’ leadership development;(2) To promote awareness of junior Ss’ leadershipdevelopment;(3) Establish a mechanism for junior Ss’ development;(4) Emphasis ontraining teachers’ ability to development Ss’ leadership.
