That the society participates in the higher education is an inevitable trend of thesocial and economic development, which is also the manifestation of the socializationof higher education. Entering the21st century, Come as the intellectual economy,universities have gradually entered into the center of economy and society. The powerof universities is indispensible to the development of economy and society, at thesame time, universities also can’t develop without the involvement of social forces.Thus, the degree of social force participating in university evaluation is growingstronger day by day, and the activities and forms of which have been tending towardsdiversity. The social evaluation of universities is not restricted by the identities ofevaluators, all of individuals, groups, and social intermediary agencies have thefreedom to publish their views and opinions. There are a large number of benefits ofthis: firstly, it is helpful to strengthen the universities in contact with society, whichspurs universities to take initiative to fulfill the needs of the market and socialeconomy, politics, culture, the development of science and technology; what’s more,it is also beneficial to strengthen the power and vitality of universities’ running,which urges them to examine and adjust themselves, in order to strengthen themanagement and improvement of quality; in addition, it is in favor of advancing theadministrative departments of education to improve and reinforce the macroscopicmanagement of universities, to provide the decision-making information for theirguidance and supervision, as a result of creating the necessary conditions for thescientific and democratic decisions.However, due to the start of social evaluation of universities in our country islate and not mature, coupled with the current theoretical research are focus onuniversity rankings, quite a few people simply believe that the social evaluation ofuniversities are equal to the rankings of universities, while lack the knowledge ofother two social evaluation modes of universities (review mode and certificationmode). This thesis focuses on the theory of division about social evaluation model ofuniversities, then further the systemic research on the three kinds of models. First ofall, it introduces the division theory about social evaluation modes of universities (social evaluation theory of philosophy, stakeholder theory in economics, thediversification idea of education evaluation) and the basis of reality (the actualsituation about social evaluation of universities in domestic and overseas), we candivide the university system of social evaluation into three models: review mode,ranking mode and certification mode. Secondly, it discusses the three modelsrespectively, including tracing their origin, describing their present situation,revealing their connotation and characteristics, and analyzing operation mechanismby their operation of condition, operation and result, then it combines with the typicalcases to analyze the specific operation of each mode. Finally, it looks back upon thesocial evaluation process of our country, and makes a deepen reflection to theproblems of social evaluation model in our country combining with the aboveresearch conclusion, in the end puts forward the construction strategies about ourcountry’s social evaluation model of universities.
