With the development of online educational technology, and the popularization of mobile terminals, online education resources are booming and personalized educational resources are urgently needed. Online education platforms of both commercial companies and universities are constantly trying new ideas. Some online education platforms have achieved great achievements and aroused wide public concerns. The thesis studies the above platforms and tries to design a personalized framework for universities.Firstly, the thesis overviews the research on the individual learning needs of students, the personalized functions of some commercial platforms, micro-lectures and the new learning models. In this paper, a total of120students selected at random did the questionnaire and8students who have online learning experience are interviewed. Based on the result of the survey, the thesis uses the theory of diffusion of innovations, the knowledge gap hypothesis and the uses and gratification theory as the foundation to discuss how to construct personalized online education platforms for universities.In order to use the resources effectively, universities can cooperate with commercial online education platforms and provide students with diversified courses, including free courses and paid courses. The core competence of online education platforms will be the faculty and interestingness. With the change of teaching and learning channels, there will be higher requirements for teachers. The platforms can provide more personalized learning opportunities for students and cultivate their ability of active learning by using micro-lectures and discussion areas as supplementary. By using the evaluation and timely feedback functions of the platform, students can have a clear understanding of their learning situations. The last chapter of the thesis mentions some limitations and some recommendation for further research. For the online platforms are developing fast with a relatively short history, there haven’t been case studies of the users to get the precise data. And the laws and regulations about the online courses haven’t been sophisticated enough. These are all worthy of further research.
