Algebraic expression is an important content of junior students mathematics learning,As the starting point of mathematics knowledge in junior middle school,Algebraicexpression plays an important role in junior middle school mathematics knowledge? At thesame time, junior students is facing from arithmetic to algebra transition phase. There areimportant differences in algebraic expression operation and arithmetic operations. Studentsneed to realize from procedural to structural leap. In fact, this part puts forward higherrequirements for students. Seventh grade students facing more challenges in this transitionphase.This research focuses on exploirng the seventh grade students actual situation anddifficulties in the transition stage.Therefore, this article selects the seventh grade students as the research object.Bylooking and reading related literature. This paper probes into the concept of algebraicexpression and content of the algebraic expression. Prepare the questionnaire,according tothe results of questionnaire survey,analysis and summarizes the seventh grade students theactual situation of learning algebraic expression as well as the difficulties need to overcome.Finally, this article puts forward some reference suggestions from several aspects.(1)Teachersof mathematics need to help students distinguish the difference and contactbetween the arithmetic and algebra operation symbols.(2)Student’s understanding of algebraic expression alphabetic character is difficult,Teachers need to help students from several transition to a variable.(3)Byusing varieties of characterization, help students understand the structure ofalgebraic expression.(4)Strengthenthe teaching of algebraic expression operation rules, and using students’errors.
