The new curriculum standards have been readjusted based on the newcurriculum reform which has been implemented in junior high school with thedeepening reform of quality-oriented education recently. Open-ended questions ownadvantages in developing students’ divergent thinking, which helps students to thinkover questions from various angles. How to teach open-ended questions has beengenerally focused by primary schools and junior high schools in the context of newcurriculum standards. Inquiry teaching mode refers to the teaching procedure inwhich the new curriculum standards reach agreement in cognition and emotion. Inthe whole process, students could learn actively, explore the knowledge andcooperate with partners with the guidance of instructors. Therefore, it has beenwidely considered on applying in teaching open-ended questions as a kind ofteaching strategy. However, the effectiveness of inquiry teaching mode applied inteaching open-ended questions should be confirmed furthermore.This paper takes the teaching of open-ended questions as the research object. Itmainly focuses on the effectiveness of inquiry teaching mode which is applied inteaching open-ended questions of mathematics in junior high school by means ofexperimental research. After one-year’s research on experimental class and controlclass, it’s found that the inquiry teaching about open-ended questions ofmathematics in junior high school has forward-looking effects on raisingstudent performance, inspires students’ interests, improves their learningmethods and betters the attitude in learning mathematics. The research has certainexperimental significance to the application of the teaching mode, which is used inopen-ended questions of mathematics in junior high school.
