Advances in technology make the whole world is concerned about scientific literacy education. In the twenty-first century, a people with high-level and high scientific literacy is more needed. How to effectively improve students’ scientific literacy in school education is a key goal of the new era of education. A new round of curriculum reform also raised the idea to improve the biological scientific literacy. As an important branch of science, to improve students’ biological scientific literacy has become an important target in high school education. On the basis of new curriculum standards to explore the effective teaching strategies to improve student biological scientific literacy, we hope it can bring some help for high schools’ biological scientific literacy educate.This study introduced the background of scientific literacy education and the reason, purpose and the meaning of the research. Then illustrates the concept of scientific literacy, and the concept and connotation of biological scientific, which is a branch of scientific literacy. We are also described the importance, principles and general channel of training students’ biological scientific literacy in high school biology teaching.Secondly, on the basis of searching large literature, the writer analyzes the status and development trend of biological scientific literacy education both domestic and abroad. A clear gap between domestic and international students in the biological scientific literacy was found. On the basis, the researcher proposed a number of different teaching strategies and put into practice in two parallel classes of HanJiang High School of Yangzhou city, Jiangsu Province. In experimental Class, the researcher using the following teaching strategies:(1) Advocating inquiry learning to culture students’ self-learning ability and innovation;(2) Penetration biological science history education in biology teaching to culture students’ scientific methods and ideas;(3) Optimization the experimental teaching to culture students’ experiment research capabilities;(4) Penetration STS education to culture students’ biological scientific literacy. Through practices to explore the effective teaching strategies in order to improving students’ biological scientific literacy.Finally, the study evaluate the effect of teaching practice. First discusses the significance of the evaluation and the basic principles of evaluation:Multidimensional principles, development policy, as well as qualitative and quantitative principles. Using Excel software analysis the experimental classes and control classes’ biological course grades as pretest and posttest. The analysis show that researcher proposed teaching strategies to make the achievement of experimental class has increased compared with the control. The strategies bringing some help to improve students’ biological scientific literacy. Secondly, though experimental skills tests, the comprehensive experimental skills of the experimental class improved compared with the control class, students’ capacity literacy about biology experiment increased. Finally, the analysis of the student’s emotional attitudes and values found that in the experimental class students’ learning attitudes and motivation change occurs, which is root of the elevation of students’ achievement and scientific literacy.
