The Core Competitiveness Research Of American Private Liberal Arts College

The USA remains the top position of the world in the quality of higher education. The university in America begins later than that in Europe, but it develops at a tremendous speed. Drawing on the foreign education thought and melding the native characteristics, American higher education and the competitiveness of its universities have outpaced in the world for over a century. The major features of higher education, in its essence, is constituted by diversified forms, thoughts and methods, which include the liberal arts college focused by all walks of life in the higher educational system. Nowadays, the transformation is a challenge to the development of the higher education in China. It’s a direction that many researchers strive together to strengthen the competitiveness of the undergraduate education in our country by drawing on the experience of foreign country which is especially offered for us by the development of the American liberal arts college. This paper studied the core competitiveness based on the research on the liberal arts college, macroscopically anglicizing the historical reform and present situation of American Liberal Arts College.This paper consists of six parts.The first chapter introduces the research background, research status, significance and purpose of research ideas and methods as well as the original novelty. The second part defines the core concepts and theoretical basis of four related to this article core concept to define, but the theoretical basis for this paper were elaborated;The third part is the current situation of core competence of American private liberal arts college base on the American best university ranking from Forbes magazine. Though the College of2009-2012and four years of National University and private liberal arts ranking, we found American private liberal arts college in overall competitiveness strong than National University and it has remained stable, the core competitiveness of the American private liberal arts colleges is the higher qualityThe forth part is according to seven factors to describe the core competitiveness of Liberal Arts College reflects the school-running concept, fat financial aid excellent resources of teaching, the establishment of rich courses, strict system of nurturing and unique management concept of the school leader.The fifth part defines literature research and case analysis, perspective manifestations of core competitiveness of Harvey Mad College, based on the seven factors is selected in this paper.The last part research and analysis on the basis of the previous chapters to make some suggestions to Teaching-oriented University in China from Scientific Orientation enhance the teaching level, perfecting the course and improve teaching condition.All in all, the study explain the core competence of the American private liberal arts collagen on the basis of theory of niche, it provides a new thought for the Teaching-oriented University in China to improve the overall competitiveness of our undergraduate teaching has certain significance.
