Teachers’ self Professional Development is the key to self-growth and academicachievement. However, there are some crises under the direction of laying muchemphasis in professional skills and technical expertise. That’s why how to help teachersgain inherent and well-established professional development has been a heated topicamong theoretical circle, which also is the prime trend in educational practice. Teachers’Individual Professional Development, based on Existential Philosophy, is of greatimportance to better understanding and practice in educational field.Existential Philosophy is a trend concerning human existence. It salutes thedevelopment of individuality and spirituality, integrity as well as irrationality inexistence. Meanwhile, it reflects social maladies in human functionalization,technicalization and standardization, enjoying considerable realistic enlightenment in asociety where teachers value utilitarianism and specialized skills but overlook personalfeeling and spiritual quest; where teachers go after outward development while neglectmorality and virtue.This thesis, on the basis of Existential Philosophy, not just discusses the meaningof teachers’ professional development and the fall of Existential Philosophy but alsooffers suggestions in this aspect through analyzing teachers’ professional developmentboth in home and abroad under contemporary related theories.The fall in Existential Philosophy is embodied in "technological existence"、"materialized existence"、"homogenized existence"、"Discipline institutionalizedexistence", etc. Above makes teachers neglect their authenticity, moreover, makes themforget "What does it mean to be a teacher?"This thesis, establishing in Existential Philosophy and measures of SuzhouTeachers’ self Professional Development, puts forward some strategies in the form ofinstitutional improvement and cultivation, such as providing a "developingenvironment"、"Growing Professional Culture ". Further, combining experts guiding with self-reading and reflection, it facilitates teachers attain a more complete IndividualProfessional Development.
