In view of the demands of the spiritual civilization construction of socialism, we school must pay attention to quality-oriented education. Along with the education investment, elementary education gains sufficient human and material resources to support fully pushing away quality-oriented education, but with the development of compulsory education and quality education, we found that traditional education was obviously not suitable for students’ development. Take the general art students in our senior high school as an example, they have diversified personalities, various interests, different learning style as well as different academic level; if traditional cramming method of teaching is still utilized and the one-size-fits-all evaluation method adopted, many students will be bound to be sifted out in college entrance examination three years later.Based on the multiple intelligence theory, constructivism learning theory and Marxist theory of man’s all-round development, differential teaching is undoubtedly a good choice for China’s elementary education at present. For one thing, with the methods of questionnaires and interviews, the author using his school as an example, analyzed the weakness of traditional education and pointed out the necessity of implementing differential teaching; for another, the author also proposed strategies of carrying out differential teaching by widely literature collecting, which aimed at making great contributions to promoting the teaching quality for art students in general senior high school.
