College students’ lack of learning initiative, which will seriously impacttheir learning and integrated development, has already become a comparativelyprominent problem that urgently needs to be solved in the construction of studystyle in colleges and universities. It is true that there are profound social, schooland family reasons behind the college students’ lack of learning initiative, yetthere are many individual reasons that cannot be ignored. Among the manyfactors that influence students’ learning initiative, incentive mechanism as astimulating factor, has been playing an increasingly important role in improvingcollege students’ learning initiative. Reviewing large amount of literaturerelated to incentive theory, and based on basic knowledge of incentive theoryand an empirical study on a certain college in Zhejiang Province, this paperdiscusses about how to build up a reasonable incentive system that canstimulate college student’s learning initiative, exploit their potentials, andeventually help them to become talents with social adaptiveness. Collegestudent motivation is not a simple question of system construction.First of all, the paper analyzes the background and research significance ofcollege student incentive research, and reviews related literature. Afterreviewing domestic and foreign incentive theories and current situation, thispaper strives to find an innovation point and breakthrough point, and set theframework and paths of this research based on previous studies.Secondly, this paper takes a Zhejiang college for example and makes acomprehensive research on the college incentive system, in the hope that thedeep and comprehensive empirical research will help verify and explore the existing problem problems in the current college student incentive system. Theresearch has two parts: the first part is a research on the current situation of thiscollege; the second part is college students’ evaluation of the current incentivesystem. The research summarizes the problems facing the college’s incentivesystem, namely, the imbalanced deployment of positive and negative incentive,the mismatching of incentive contents and the object’s demand, the disjunctionbetween the incentive subject and current situation, the vagueness of incentivelayers and the singularity of incentive path, the ignorance of the incentiveprocesses, the ignorance of supervision, etc.Thirdly, based on the large amount of literature review and the empiricalresearch of college in question, the author proposes the principles for theconstruction of incentive system, namely the principle of system, the principleof science, the student-oriented principle, the principle of democracy, theprinciple of effectiveness.Then, set up the basic framework of college student incentive system onthe principle of college incentive, perfect college student’s positive andnegative incentive system, improve the hierarchical classification of theincentive mode, set up a incentive system that ensures the integrateddevelopment of the students, broaden the channels of students’ knowing anddoing and quality, and implement a whole-process incentive system.Last but not least, in order to ensure the efficient operation of collegestudent incentive mechanism, this paper analyzes some key points, and comesup with feasible countermeasures, namely, to optimize the incentive guidemechanism, and motivation mechanism; to explore incentive resources andreinforce incentive power; to perfect supervision mechanism, which helps thesmooth operation of the incentive mechanism; to keep up with the times andimprove the adaptability of the incentive system.
