Undergraduate research training is an important part of national innovation personnel training system and a key step of university to achieve innovation education and teaching mode change. With the increasing of undergraduate research training program number, the diversity of program forms and the complexity of disciplines involved. The phenomenon of undergraduate’s lack of motivation and enthusiasm is becoming remarkable increasingly. As the undergraduate is main part of research training, their enthusiasm is dynamic security of promoting undergraduate research training’s successful conduct. Optimizing the undergraduate research incentive mechanism and fully mobilizing undergraduates’ enthusiasm to participate and complete the research training will contribute to the quality improvement of undergraduate research training and cultivation of innovative talents.Firstly, the empirical research for the current situation of undergraduate research training incentive mechanism was taken. Taking the example of NJAU University and based on the survey results, we used SPSS20.0 software to statistics and analysis the current stratus of undergraduate research training incentive mechanism. Then according to the analysis of the current status, we seek for the problems of the incentive mechanism as well as causes of these problems.Secondly, summarize the current situation of undergraduate research training incentive mechanism of Massachusetts Institute of Technology that created a precedent for United States and UC Berkeley that was famous of "Berkeley model". Then absorb some excellent experience and practices, such as, updating university teaching philosophy, building the incentive mechanism and policy system, paying attention to the relationship between teacher and student in the research training process.Thirdly, combine with the result of theoretical research and empirical research. We study how to optimize undergraduate research training incentive mechanism from internal factors of the incentive mechanism, including incentive subject, incentive object, the process of incentive, incentive measures, incentive ways and methods, incentive environment and supporting conditions, as well as the assessment and feedback of the incentive system. Besides, the Logistic regression model was used to analysis factors impacted on the incentive mechanism’s effect, which provided a more scientific direction for the optimization of incentive mechanism.Finally, this paper described the five principles of improving undergraduate research training incentive mechanism, including systematic principle, people-oriented principle, motivation guiding principle, fairness principle and process incentive principle. Aim at the problem in undergraduate research training incentive mechanism, the strategies for optimization of incentive mechanism was proposed on macro, meso and micro levels. Including creation a favorable external environment, improvement the mode of incentive, perfect the incentive system and policy system, improvement the incentive level of instructor and building the evaluation and feedback mechanisms of incentive mechanisms.
