| With the reform and opening up, China has a great development and prosperity in variousundertakings and a great rising in international status. But, China also faces a greater competition andchallenge. What we can do for keeping competitive advantages is only cultivating more high-quality talents.Therefore, China attaches great importance to the development of education with curriculum reform forseveral times, and always gives strategic priority to education development. Especially after the newcurriculum reform, geography are changed enormously in the position of science system and curriculumprovision with increasingly prominent discipline and emerging new teaching methods in which caseteaching method has been paid attention all over the world. The geography’s discipline characteristicsconsistent with case teaching method, which considered as great advantages that using case teachingmethod in the geography classroom.Case teaching method has gradually penetrated into geographyteaching and plays an important role. Certainly, it is a hot topic that how to understand of the case teachingdeeply and combining geographic teaching and case teaching effectively, which is also an important task inhigh school geography teaching and has a very important significance.Case teaching method has made considerable progress since appeared, especially in recent years,a large number of scholars devoting themselves to the study of case teaching, elaborating the case teachingfrom a different perspective. In terms of geography, case teaching is relatively mature in the theory andfunction research of geography education, and it is also more in the implementation and applicationresearch, but this research has little to do with natural geography, human geography and regional geography,etc., especially in combination with the high school geography elective course. Case Method is one of themain teaching methods in "Tourism Geography" course. Combination of the case teaching and TourismGeography course effectively can well reflect the nature and requirements of high school geographycurriculum, which helps teachers and students to complete the task of teaching geography. But there isalmost no research in this area. Author analyzes the case teaching in high school geography taking tourismgeography as an example, hoping to help students understand the case teaching better and learn geographymore effectively. Therefore, based on the research at home and abroad, this paper mainly started from theconnotation of case teaching to indicating the origin and development of case teaching, combination itstheoretical basis,presenting my view of teaching meaning on the basis of previous cases. At the same time,combined of geography, this paper explores the theory on the concept of case teaching in geography, therelationship between case teaching and “tourism geographyâ€.In this paper, the investigation of high schoolgeography case teaching that analyzing by questionnaire survey, interviews and data statistics,understanding the teachers and students’ attitudes and needs for case teaching, summarizing currentproblems and achievements of case teaching in geography teaching of high school. It discovers that theapplication of case teaching in geography of high school has made certain achievements, such as studentparticipation, initiative consciousness,the ability to explore and the classroom atmosphere have improved.But there are also some problems, for example, students’ demand for geography teaching case is large; thecase which provided by textbook can’t meet the needs of students; the teacher over dominant, pursuit ofform, lack of innovation in the case teaching; the level of case teaching is limited; effect of case teaching onthe part of students is not obvious, case teaching status does not meet the requirements of students intourism geography classes etc.. All these require the student and the teacher pay attention seriously by taking corresponding measures to improve the case teaching according to the actual situation, to make theeffect of case teaching optimization. Finally according to the results of investigation, pointing out thecorresponding implementation strategies. Hoping it can work to the development of case teaching andimprove the students’ ability and lifelong development. Certainly, there are still some shortcomings for mypaper. I hope to continue working hard in future studies. |
