Research On The Subject Development Based On SWOT Model

As people’s attentions to the quality of the higher education is more and more concentrated, thediscipline construction also attract more and more people’s attention. Because the development status of thediscipline is the main indicators of the overall strength of the universities, also an important symbol of auniversity’s education, strengthen the construction of key disciplines is an important way to improve thequality of higher education. While the SWOT analysis method can objectively and accurately analyze thestrengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats in the process of the development of a research object,and combine these four factors to make recommendations on the future’s development of the researchobject, in development strategy analysis, SWOT analysis is one of the most commonly used method.Therefore,this study chose the research of discipline development based on the SWOT model. Geographyis one of the oldest and most powerful discipline in Henan University, its construction has importantreference value on the development of other disciplines, therefore, chose the geography of HenanUniversity as the research case.Comprehensive and clear understanding of the current situation of the development of the discipline isthe foundation. The first part of this article, the first two chapters mainly expounds the researchbackground, the selected topic significance, and introduces the research train of thought and method indetail; do the finishing of the literature review of the subject and the SWOT analysis model at home andabroad; The second chapter of the article introduce the related concepts which is the base of full paper,and then introduce the subject setting, teachers’s team, scientific research and international exchanges, andso on of Henan University geography,which is the basis for the following data analysis and empiricalresearch of bedding.The core part of this article is the third chapter, first of all, according to the steps of the SWOTanalysis method,,refer to the2012discipline assessment results in nationwide which is organized by theCDGDC, put the Henan university’s geography discipline in the national view to compare with othercolleges and universities, adopt the Segmentation analysis to analyze the Henan university geographysubject,and know the geography of Henan university is strong in in the research of the project and thequality of teaching and teaching material, but is weak in the quality of representative academic paper,thenumber of the full-time teachers and the expert team,. Use the PEST analysis method in the determinationof the external opportunities and threats, The government’s support for the development of Henanuniversity, the ministry of education puts attention on the subject development and the objective reality ofthe needs to the development of geography is the external opportunities, but the geographical position ofHenan university is economically backward, and the support the goverment give Henan province is notenough. At the end of the second part, analyze each factor in the SWOT model, then according to thepresent situation of Henan university geography discipline, forming four different development strategies.And the SWOT strategy makes full use of external opportunities to weaken the internal disadvantage of geography, ease the burden of the geography discipline in Henan university, so it is a suitable strategy.In the last part, set the direction of the development of the discipline as enhance the connotation of thediscipline, according to the analysis of the second part, and refer to the advanced experience of first-classuniversities, provide specific advice on teachers equipped, students training mode, the academicatmosphere construction, system innovation, and conditions support the and so on,. The development indiscipline has some common characteristics and the common law, the suggestion also provides referencefor the development of other disciplines.
