Byanalyzing the connotation and times characteristics of patriotic education, itschallenges on colleges and the approaches to higher educational issues on patriotism,the author concludes that higher education on patriotism should be based on theinstructions of rational thinking, transferring its passive precautions to activeeducation and directing college students to express their patriotism rationally and thatit is essential to analyze the problems and challenges objectively so as to nurturecollege students to develop purified patriotic ideology, which aims to maximize ournational interests and prompts the world to develop more peacefully.Through deep analysis of the issues of college education on patriotism at thesetting of the strategy of containment on China and by combining current domesticand international circumstances, this paper puts forward challenges and opportunitiesthat higher education on patriotism encounters, presents the guidance andcorresponding solving strategies and actively directs college students to developjustified patriotic ideology as well as behaviors, which offers a vivid thinking patternof solutions to a series of educational and teaching issues that higher education inChina is confronted with on this background.
