Problems Of College Student Volunteers’ Incentive Mechanism And Its Solution

With the continuous development and progress of Chinese society, volunteeringhas gained rapid development and the scale of volunteers has also been enlarged.College student volunteers have become an important part of the cause of Chinesevolunteering, promoting it developing faster and better. How to motivate the collegestudent volunteers is an important issue. Nowadays, the society has paid muchattention to researches on motivating and managing volunteers. The real situation isthat our volunteer service started late and the incentive mechanism is not perfect,which leads to the consequence that volunteers participating in volunteer service for avery short time. College student volunteers are not mature enough and lack of stability,which, to a large extent, restricts the development of college student volunteers andeven the whole nation’s volunteers. Therefore, under the background of building asocialist harmonious society and promoting the construction of socialist spiritualcivilization, it is more important to promote the development of college studentvolunteers by studying how to improve the incentive mechanism. We need tosummarize and explore systematically the incentive mechanism of China’s collegestudent volunteers by learning from the experience of other countries.Based on summing up the relevant research literature of the incentive mechanismat home and abroad, this dissertation conducts a sample survey on students fromChangsha University of Science and Technology, Changsha Medical College, andXiangtan University, using the methods of interview and questionnaire, whichcombines quantitative and qualitative. On the basis of the above literature, the papermakes a description analysis on motivation, persistence, and volunteer organizationmanagement of college student volunteers. By doing so, this paper tries to summarizethe problems existing in the incentive mechanism on college student volunteers andlook forward solutions to these problems from four aspects of the material assurance,financing channels, volunteer management and volunteer self-construction so as toachieve effective motivation.
