With the further development of junior high school geography curriculum reform and the awkward position of geography in junior high school education stage, it’s very important to research the geography classroom teaching effectiveness. Maps are not only an important means of expression of he geography teaching materials but also a tool for the tudents learning geography. So optimization of maps is an important approach to improving the effectiveness of the geography classroom teaching. Although maps in the teaching materials have been selected carefully by the experts, they are also insufficient. In the actual teaching process, teachers attach great importance to use the map to the teaching, But its effectiveness is worth deep reflection. Many students have "halo figure" phenomenon. So it has a certain value to research by optimizing maps to improve effectiveness of teaching.The research method of the paper includes questionnaire, literature study, experimental, interview and comprehensive analysis. It mainly reached the validity of the junior high school geography optimization map teaching countermeasures, detailed interpretation of the connotation of the four countermeasures,the optimization of the process of reading maps, optimize the maps reading situation and the question design, draw the simplified maps. Illustrated the use of four countermeasures through examlpes, summarized the notes of implementation countermeasure, and then verified the effect of four kinds of countermeasure through practice, and carries on the effective analysis, found out the problems existing in the research process, put forward the measures of improvement.This paper researched the effective teaching of Junior high school geography map optimization. It provided the direct reference to have an effective teaching for the teachers. It also made a demonstration to learn geographic effectively through maps for the students. Practice showed that the implementation of the junior high school geography optimization effectiveness map teaching countermeasures made different levels of students, especially middle and deviation had benefited. They made great progress, stimulated the students’ interest in learning and aroused their enthusiasm of learning. The author believes that with the keep trying and perfect of the optimization effectiveness map teaching countermeasures, the junior high school geography classroom teaching effectiveness will be greatly improved, and the student can use map to learn geography freely.
