Our country universities which had modern meaning began in the modern Chinawhich collide in west and east. They only have one hundred years of history. In thehundred years of universities rheoloy, China universities have made many remarkableachievements and formed some unique excellent traditional spirit up to the present,whichis worth for us to feel gratified and inheritance,but compared with European and Americaninstitutions of higher learning still exists huge gap and also have a number of difficultproblems that we need to face and solve. One of the more prominent problems is theadministrative power generalize Academic power weaken in the universities thatbureaucratic management mode brings.The pursuit of the university academic standard hasbeen damaged. So Cai Yuanpei’s thought of professor governance is able to solve thisproblem.The research analyzes Cai Yuanpei’s thought of faculty governance with focusing onselecting the perspective of history of educational thought and utilizing literature researchmethod and historical research method. On the base of analyzing the topic’spurpose,significance and research status,the study discusses systematically Cai Yuanpei’sthought of faculty governance.Firstly, the study analyzes the idealistic origin of CaiYuanpei’s thought of faculty governance.The part concentrates on two aspects. One aspectincludes Cai Yuanpei’s study experience in Germany and he get in touch with and drawlessons from Germany universities’ democratic thought of faculty governance during thattime. The other aspect contains benefiting from democratic thought of our ancient schoolmanagement and criticizing bureaucratic despotism thought of scool management inancient China.Secondly,the study sums up the ideological content of Cai Yuanpei’sthought of faculty governance.The specific content consists of three aspects that are thethought of professor system which contains teacher hiring and professor appointment,thethought of administrative affairs management which contains legislativeaffairs,administrative affairs and general affairs and the thought of the academic affairs management which comprises style of study governance,teaching treatment,disciplinemanagement and academic governance.Besides, the thought of professor system ispremise.The thought of administrative affairs management is safeguard. The thought of theacademic affairs management is root. In addition,the part of content stress the thought ofthe academic affairs management in order to highlight Cai Yuanpei’s thought of facultygovernance being democratic thought that takes faculty governance academic affairs as thecore content.At last, because of internal and external constraints, Cai Yuanpei’s thought offaculty governance has certain deficiencies.But it has profound influence owing to its valuepursuit of governing democratically university internal affairs,especially it has importantrealistic revelation for our university at present.It has vital realistic instructive for breakingthe situation of hiring teachers hiring and professors selection which attached importanceto educational background but looked down on ability and achieving the healthydevelopment of the construction of teachers. It has vital realistic instructive for solving theinternal collegiate administrative affairs manageent problem which paied attention toadministrative management but despised academic service and realizing the goal ofmanaging internal collegiate affairs according to law. It has vital realistic instructive forweakening administrative color of the academic affairs management, eliminating theproblems of academic corruption and power imbalance produced by the political systemand academic utilitarian values and achieving the balance of academic power andadministrative power.In summary, this study designates the topic of Cai Yuanpei’s thought of facultygovernance which has strong realistic significance.With the height of the educator’s thought,thestudy expounds the thought’s ideological origins,ideological content and realisticenlightenment.So that this study can achieve certain innovation about research perspective andresearch content.
